First of all—thank you for being here.

I’ve been dreaming about this space for a long time. A corner of the internet where love reigns, where Black people are at the center of the story, and where romance is messy, sexy, steamy, and a little—okay, a lot—complicated… and always worth the ride.

If we haven’t met yet, I’m Charese Powell—a romance author, a lover of big feelings, steamy tension, and characters who are as layered and complex as the rest of us. I write love stories that crackle with chemistry, emotional depth, and a little bit of chaos (the good kind). But one thing will always be true: Black culture will always be revered.

My debut novel, Crossing Lines at City Hall, is a two-part political romance series that blends sharp banter, slow burns, and the kind of unresolved tension that’ll have you talking (and maybe screaming) at the characters. Part One drops this August, and when you find this, hopefully I’m somewhere on a beach, sipping something fruity and working on Part Two—which is set to release in January 2026.

This blog is where I’ll share all the behind-the-scenes goodness: writing updates, mood boards, playlists, thoughts on storytelling, and the occasional rant when a scene just won’t cooperate. I’ll also spill tea about upcoming projects and maybe even share some exclusive content before it drops anywhere else.
